The Design Director partners with group creative directors and account management to create the vision of strategic branding solutions that perform successfully in the marketplace. The Design Director role involves the ability to be a creative team leader and brand keeper while professionally servicing clients, building business relationships, representing design leaders and influencing the studio culture.
*Leads and directs design team to produce a high level of creative brand excellence.
*Creates big idea thinking/new brand visions through multiple design solutions with consistency of being on target with design objectives and brand strategy. Generates thought provoking brand solutions.
*Provides inspiration to all members of the design team members through creative leadership. Consistently leads through all phases of design: conception – implementation – final production.
*Ensures quality of creative output consistently meets or exceeds design objectives and brand strategy.
*Collaborates with strategists to grasp brand strategies and positioning to apply creative output.
*Establishes brand kick-off meetings, brainstorming and ideation sessions. Delegates set up of brand rooms and keeps work updated for progression/awareness.
*Develops positive relationships with clients with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently to client when brand perspective, insight, or troubleshooting is needed.
*Guides aesthetic excellence through teaching typography, color, image and layout.
*Effective management and leadership skills.
*Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong, trusting relationships and interact with staff at all levels.
*Excellent technical/computer skills.
*Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and initiative.
* Must have 5 or more years of experience designing for mass packaging in the areas of food and beverage.
*Must be a hands-on director
